Campbellsville University awards pins to 28 School of Nursing students
Dr. Frank Cheatham, senior vice president for academic affairs at Campbellsville University, said he didn't think anyone could be in better hands than those of a Campbellsville University nurse.
Cheatham spoke at CU's annual associate degree nursing program pinning ceremony Dec. 11 at Ransdell Chapel.

Campbellsville University presents awards to students, faculty and staff
Campbellsville University recognized outstanding faculty, staff, and students during this year's annual Honors and Awards Day ceremony.
Awards were given in the following categories: special awards, academic awards, Servant Leadership Awards, honor graduates, Alpha Chi, "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" and Champions of Character awards. Students who made the president's list and dean's list were also recognized.

Campbellsville University holds Annual Juried Student Art Show
Campbellsville University's Pence-Chowning Art Gallery is displaying its annual Juried Student Art Show through Wednesday, April 30.
Works of the following were accepted: painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design and other media.
The juror for the competition was professional artist Page Candler.

Campbellsville University graduates 612 in academic year; 416 in May graduations
CU graduated 152 master's students Friday night, May 2, 2014, in Ransdell Chapel, with 264 graduates Saturday morning, May 3, for a total of 416 students receiving their diplomas upon completion of all academic requirements. In CU's December commencement, 196 received their diplomas for a total of 612 students in this year's graduating class of 2013-2014.

Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors' list for the fall 2013 semester.
The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The fall 2013 academic honors' list includes a total of 607 students, with 229 named to the President's List for achieving a 4.0 grade point average, and 378 named to the Dean's List for achieving a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA.

The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The spring 2013 academic honors' list includes a total of 556 students, with 222 named to the President's List for achieving a 4.0 grade point average, and 334 named to the Dean's List for achieving a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA.

Area Residents Begin Pharmacy School at Samford University
Several area residents participated in a recent White Coat Ceremony for members of the Class of 2016 at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy.
The students are beginning a four-year professional curriculum that leads to a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. They completed two or more years of undergraduate coursework prior to entering pharmacy school.
The Oct. 5 ceremony at Shades Mountain Baptist Church included the presentation of a white coat to each student prior to their taking the pledge to the American Pharmaceutical Association's code of professionalism. Each student selected a professional mentor to assist with the ceremony.
This year's entering pharmacy class includes 122 students from 12 states and one foreign nation. Samford's McWhorter School of Pharmacy enrolls a total of 497 students.

Campbellsville University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors' list for the spring 2012 semester.
The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The spring 2012 academic honors' list includes a total of 460 students, with 188 achieving a 4.0 grade point average and having been named to the President's List. Others who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5-3.99 are named to the Dean's List; there are 272 named to that list.

Campbellsville University graduates record number 597 students during 2011-12 academic year
Campbellsville University bestowed degrees on a record-breaking number of graduates, 597, for the 2011-12 academic year. In ceremonies Friday, May 4, there were 132 students who received master's degrees and 248 undergraduates received their degrees on Saturday, May 5, for a total of 380 in the May ceremony. There were 217 graduates in December ceremonies.

Campbellsville University inducts first members into Alpha Xi Sigma chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, national history honor society
"You don't have to do it, no one is making you, and that is what is nice about it," Dr. Eric Wake, professor and history department chair from the University of the Cumberlands, said referring to Phi Alpha Theta, national history honor society, at Campbellsville University's first induction ceremony. "When you decide to do it, you're stepping out."
Thirteen students were inducted into Campbellsville University's first Alpha Xi Sigma chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, national history honor society, in the ceremony held Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Wake spoke at Campbellsville University's induction ceremony on behalf of the national history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta. "We are proud to include you among us," he said.
Wake said the society is student-focused. "We want you to do what you want to do. Make the activities yoursaEUR"make it a part of you," he said.
In working hard, Wake said you "get up," "work at it," and "practice."
"Sometimes you blow it, but you smile and get back up," he said.
Wake has taken his Phi Alpha Theta students from the University of the Cumberlands to regional conventions to present papers, and some have attended the national convention as well. He encouraged Campbellsville University students to present their papers when the opportunity arises.
Campbellsville University's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is one of two new chapters in the Commonwealth of Kentucky this year. The other is Bellarmine University.
Dr. Wendy Benningfield, associate professor of history, serves as faculty advisor for Campbellsville University's Alpha Xi Sigma chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.

Campbellsville University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors' list for the fall 2011 semester.
The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. The fall 2011 academic honors' list includes a total of 518 students, with 352 students who achieved a grade point average of 3.5-3.99 and have been named to the Dean's List.
